Oracle XML Training With Marco Gralike

Oracle XML Training With Marco Gralike
Event date:
Tue, 2012-03-27 - Wed, 2012-03-28

With great pleasure we announce a very interesting 2-day seminar with Marco Gralike about XML titled "Oracle XML Database Training". The course will deal in depth with performance problems, design, set-up, architecture and troubleshooting.
Marco Gralike, member of OakTable and Oracle ACE Director si know as the top expert for XML in Oracle database.
The seminar will take place on March 27-28 2012 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, at Poslovna hiša Unija, Tržaška cesta 515, 1251 Brezovica pri Ljubljani.   The seminar is organized by DbProf d.o.o. in cooperation with SIOUG, Slovenian Oracle User Group.

Seminar description:
XML is nowadays in use all around us. XML is part of Microsoft Office documents, reports, service orientated architectures and in mobile devices. The urge to do more with all this XML data, becomes very important or the need to do this more efficiently. The core Oracle database functionality which deals with XML in the database, called "XMLDB", a so called "no cost option" functionality of the database, is becoming popular as a solution to deal with these huge amounts of this semi-structured data.
Delivered XML data can be consumed via XMLDB and transformed into relational data or relational data will be used as a basis for XML to service the needs of the outside world. Oracle XMLDB functionality supports all W3C standards defined while dealing with XML. The Oracle XMLDB functionality can not only be used to generated and consume XML, but also to create Native Database Web Services (out-of-the-box web services), or support for HTTP, FTP or WebDAV. The Oracle XMLDB environment has his own file/folder environment and is relied upon, also by Oracle, heavily regarding Oracle tool reporting, interfacing or database security.
Seminar Goals:
Besides the introduction of the history of XMLDB, an overview and concepts, the course will deal in depth with performance problems, design, set-up, architecture and troubleshooting. The main goal of this seminar is to get necessary understanding how this technology can be used to the maximum extent like efficiently consuming or generating XML files. Also real life customer use-cases will be demonstrated and explained, regarding their drawbacks and benefits in the solutions.
Audience
The training has been designed for everyone (architects, developers or database administrators) who are involved in using XMLDB functionality. The seminar provides a quick start for people who will have to consume, generate or manage XML or want to use database build-in XMLDB functionality.

Expected knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of the Oracle database
  • Basic understanding of SQL and PL/SQL knowledge
  • Basic understanding of XML knowledge

The training is using Oracle's freely provided and downloadable OTN Developer Days VirtualBox virtual machine training environment. The extra training material, which will be needed for this course, like supporting documents, pdf's, examples and code, will be provided at the beginning of the course.
Training Goals
Will offer a holistic overview of the Oracle XML database functionality
Will offer an in depth overview and reasoning on how to handle XML data to come to performing, working, solutions
Will offer insight in the architectures and mechanisms in Oracle's database solutions to deal with XML problems
Will offer ways to avoid and troubleshoot problems
Will demonstrate to get the best, regarding performance and functionality, out of this XML database functionality
The training material will be deliverd in electronic form.
After this training, attendees are able to make balanced decisions regarding choices of how to setup and implement the XMLDB database functionality and its architecture. It will help them in choosing the right choices among possible methods for consuming, generating or storing XML. It will demonstrate how easy it can be to open up propriety relational environments to service orientated architectures and also when one should not use this functionality.
